Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is urging investors to nominate business leaders for the annual Business for Peace Award.
The annual award, now in its 10th year, is awarded to a business leader who is considered to have exemplified outstanding business accomplishments by operating ethically and responsibly and creating value for both business and society.
Previous winners have included Elon Musk, the CEO and founder of Tesla, Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group and Durreen Shahnaz of the Impact Investment Exchange.
In a statement, Fiona Reynolds, chief executive officer of the PRI said the organisation welcomed the Business for Peace Awards as they provide an opportunity to promote worthy business leaders in the investment community.
She said: “Long-term investors know they have a key role to play in contributing to the kind of world beneficiaries want – one of prosperous and inclusive societies in a healthy natural environment.
“Investors’ responsibility to use beneficiaries’ money in line with their best interests extends beyond providing a return on their capital. It includes ensuring that money is being invested in ways that support sustainable development towards a world in which beneficiaries can live fulfilling lives.”
Investors interested in submitting a nomination for the 2019 award can do so on the Business for Peace Nomination website.
Candidates must show evidence of being a role model to society and their peers, having earned trust by stakeholders and a history of standing out as an advocate. Nominations can be submitted until October 21, 2018.
The winners will be announced March 20, 2019 and will be presented with the award at Oslo City Hall on May 15, 2019 in a public ceremony.
