Swiss investment boutique Quaero Capital has become the latest investment group to commit resources to appointing a specialist ESG analyst.

The company announced the appointment of Georgina Parker from sustainable finance consulting group Conser Invest in an announcement on Monday. Parker has a rich business background in sustainable business, having worked for Richard Branson’s Virgin Pure as head of sales and having co-founded a London-based network for promoting gender equality in business.

She will have responsibility for sustainable investment approaches across all of Quaero Capital’s investment strategies.

Thierry Callault, a partner at the company, said that the appointment was an illustration of the importance that the company was attaching to responsible investment approaches over the long-term.

He said: “We want to make a strong commitment to responsible investment as we recognise its importance in the investment success of our clients and hence of our firm. We welcome Georgina and look forward to seeing how she will build more value into our investment processes, to the benefit of not just our investors but the environment and society at large.”

Quaero currently runs a series of European small cap funds, as well as listed and unlisted infrastructure equity strategies which have been integrating ESG criteria into their investment processes for many years. In 2017, the group absorbed an Accessible Clean Energy strategy, that was first launched in 2014 and managed by Martina Turner

The group is a signatory to the UN PRI, having signed up in 2015 and has more recently become a member of the IIGCC, the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, a network of some 150 members managing more than €120 trillion in assets under management.
