HSBC bolsters ESG team

Appointments made in the asset management division and bank

HSBC Asset Management has recruited Fatima Hadj and Laëtitia Tankwe as climate investment strategist and head of sustainability implementation and assurance respectively.

Tankwe’s (pictured) new role, based in Paris, will mean focusing on creating and delivering assurance framework’s for the bank’s asset management division’s sustainability commitments. She will also coordinate some of the group’s external industry activities.

Previously, she was responsible investment adviser to the President of the French public sector pension scheme, Caisse des dépôts Group, where she contributed to the definition and implementation of its responsible investment roadmap, and also worked at Banque Populaire Méditerranée, BPCE, Secafi, Batirente and BNP Paribas.

Meanwhile, Hadj will lead HSBC AM’s climate change strategy, ensuring climate considerations are embedded across its investment platform. Based in London, her role will include shaping climate portfolios and identifying climate risk and opportunities within investments.

She has held a number of senior roles including chair of the Principles for Responsible (PRI)’s committee for ESG integration in securitised products and at Tikehau Capital, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s.

Meanwhile, the wider HSBC group has also made sustainability appointments with Jenny McInnes has joining as the group head of sustainability policy and partnerships.

She was previously deputy director of International Climate Finance Partnerships at the UK government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and has led global public-private programmes across Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa.  Her new role at HSBC Holdings will focus on collaboration and partnership with key strategic external partners, while shaping the bank’s climate-related policies and policy advocacy will be at the forefront of Jenny’s priorities.

Furthermore, Zoë Knight is relocating to Dubai as group head of the Centre of Sustainable Finance and head of climate change for the Middle East. The bank said accelerating growth in the region is a priority for its strategy.
