ING hires to US sustainable finance team

New arrival Dan Shurey will report to Anne van Riel, head of sustainable finance for the Americas

The US arm of Dutch financial group ING has announced a new appointment to its sustainable finance team.

Dan Shurey joins ING Americas as vice president, sustainable finance with responsibility for the Americas region. He will report to Anne van Riel, the group’s head of sustainable finance for the Americas.

Shurey was previously at Bloomberg NEF and was one of the appointed specialists for the European Commission’s Sustainable Finance Technical Expert subgroups on sustainability taxonomies. He previously studied environmental geoscience at Bristol University.

In a media statement, Anne van Riel said her new charge brings tremendous experience in sustainable finance, having launched Bloomberg NEF’s research and data offering for this sector.

“He will be instrumental in building upon our solid foundation of supporting our clients to reach their sustainability goals,” she said.

“We have seen consistent growth in inquiries from companies across all sectors regarding how sustainable financing can help build better businesses for the future. I am excited to have Dan join my team to help meet this demand.”

ING Americas is part of the wider ING Group which has a presence in 40 countries through some 53,000 employees. In the US, ING Americas offers a full suite of financial products and services including commercial loans and corporate finance solutions.
