In this episode of ESG Out Loud, Joy Newton, director of climate and sustainability strategy at Lloyds Banking Group, discusses the bank’s latest research into the nuances and challenges of defining transition plans.

She talks through the findings of the study Credible Transition Plans – Reporting vs Reality including the notable increase in firms disclosing transition plans to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the need for standardisation in climate transition data.

With the UK expected to mandate transition plans for corporates, and other regulators eyeing similar requirements, Newton also outlines the three key pillars of a transition plan: ambition, action, and accountability, and some concrete steps firms can take in their short, medium, and long-term plans.
