Gresham House has appointed Eoin McDonald (pictured) as global director of natural capital, tasked with driving further development of Gresham House’s natural capital solutions strategy globally.
McDonald joins Gresham House with over 12 years of experience in institutional natural capital investment. Most recently, he served as managing director at specialist investment management firm, GreenAgCapital, where he developed investment strategies and led fundraising across vertically integrated investments within the food and agriculture sector.
Prior to this, he led the US portfolio management team at Nuveen Natural Capital’s farmland division, managing investments, driving the firm’s ESG strategy and spearheading new product initiatives. He has also been a portfolio manager at Insight Investment, a subsidiary of BNY Mellon, where he oversaw the performance and management of a global farmland fund after starting his career as an analyst at Citigroup.
Speaking about his new role, McDonald said: “I am delighted to be joining Gresham House at a time when investors are increasingly seeking to engage with, and ultimately invest in, natural capital. I look forward to educating those new to the asset class and expanding understanding of its role in portfolio construction, as well as the attractive financial returns and meaningful contribution to the net zero transition it offers investors. I have spent over a decade investing in natural capital, and Gresham House’s commitment to long-term value creation through forestry, biodiversity and agricultural investments aligns closely with my vision for the sector.”
Tony Dalwood, CEO at Gresham House, added: “Eoin brings a wealth of expertise in managing institutional natural capital portfolios and has a proven track record of investment solutions in agriculture, forestry and sustainable land use. His ambition will be instrumental as we continue to scale our natural capital platform and meet the growing demand for sustainable investments.
“In a survey we conducted last year, we found 73% of UK asset owners would invest in natural capital to support climate adaptation, and over 50% are either already investing in natural capital or plan to do so in the next 18 months. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team as we work toward establishing Gresham House as a preeminent partner for natural capital investments globally.”
