BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed a new head of sustainability who will report to the CEO and head of investments.
Jane Ambachtsheer joins the investment arm of the French Bank on 27 August and will report to Frédéric Janbon, BNP Paribas Asset Management’s chief executive officer.
The appointment, first reported by Pensions & Investments, was confirmed on Friday in a media statement by BNP Paribas, where Janbon noted Ambachtsheer as “a seasoned professional who is recognised globally as a leading influencer in Responsible investment.”
He said: “Jane adds outstanding expertise to a central pillar of BNP Paribas Asset Management’s strategy. While we continue to strengthen our commitment to long term investing as well as acting as a responsible firm, having Jane on board will definitely accelerate the path to achieve our goals as a leading player in sustainable finance.”
Ambachtsheer joins the business having previously held the role of partner and chair of Responsible Investment at consultant Mercer. At Mercer, she directed strategy for the Responsible Investment team globally.
She has worked as a consultant to the United Nations, working to develop the Principles for Responsible Investment unit and has played a part in several other sustainability initiatives worldwide, including the Carbon Disclosure Project and the Financial Stability Board Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.
She holds a Master of Social Science from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Economics and English Literature from York University.
