Chronos Sustainability has bolstered its senior leadership team with the appointment of Dr Jon Day as chief operating officer.

The specialist advisory firm said Dr Day’s appointment reflects the continuing growth of Chronos’ business during the past two years.

Dr Day, who has almost 30 years’ experience in academic and commercial environments, has led and supported a range of high-profile programmes and has an international reputation for his research in behavioural science, nutrition and animal welfare.

In this newly-created role, Dr Day will be responsible for overseeing Chronos’ business operations to deliver consultancy and research services to its clients and partners.

The hiring follows the rejigging in roles of the firm’s co-founders Dr Rory Sullivan and Nicky Amos who became CEO and managing director respectively in December 2019.

Nicky Amos, managing director, Chronos Sustainability added: “Jon has been a much-valued consultant to Chronos since its inception and indeed a highly respected associate for far longer, having been involved in the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare and other programmes for a number of years prior,” Amos said.

“His depth of experience in both a commercial and academic context, combined with his strong leadership, systems and operations expertise will be pivotal as we continue to grow our business.”

Dr Sullivan added: “Jon’s appointment will enable us to deliver on our mission of delivering best-in-class, intelligent sustainability solutions to support our clients’ ambitions for driving genuine change in their sectors.”

Chronos, which works with more than 40 clients – including institutional investors, corporates, civil society organisations, and intergovernmental organisations – is currently leading and supporting a series of major industry transformation projects including The Transition Pathway Initiative, The Global Coalition for Animal Welfare and The Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare.
