Columbia Threadneedle Investments has launched an equity income fund investing in global companies that will contribute to a sustainable future.

The CT Sustainable Global Equity Income fund will be managed by global equities portfolio manager Nick Henderson.

It will seek to identify 30-50 companies that will become “real contributors” to a sustainable world.

The fund will aim to deliver an attractive income, with scope for capital growth, targeting a yield in excess of its MSCI ACWI benchmark while supporting positive change.

Sustainability themes underpin the fund’s investment strategy, to identify companies that stand to benefit from or contribute to trends in sustainable development.

Fund manager Henderson and the global equities team have identified seven ‘megatrends’ for the investing strategy that will provide long-term support to well-placed companies,  including energy transition, health and wellbeing and sustainable cities.

Henderson is part of Columbia Threadneedle’s specialist ESG global equities team and has a long history of managing global sustainable strategies.

Michaela Collet Jackson, head of distribution for EMEA, at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, said: “The CT Sustainable Global Equity Income fund gives investors the opportunity to help address the very real sustainability challenges facing us without compromising on income.”
