J O Hambro Capital Management (JOHCM) is opening its global Shariah fund up to external investors.
The Irish-domiciled J O Hambro Capital Management Global Select Shariah Fund, managed by Nudgem Richyal, excludes companies considered uncompliant with Shariah investing such as financial services, gambling or defence, and monitors Shariah-complaint lists. It uses the MSCI ACWI Islamic Index (net dividends reinvested) as a comparator benchmark.
Richyal has run the institutional mandate for more than eight years and said he is “proud and excited” to bring it to a wider audience.
He added: “By applying the process within our Global and International Select Funds into a Shariah-complaint vehicle we feel we can generate compelling returns for a large number of traditionally underserved clients.”
