J. Safra Sarasin has launched a UCITS commodity transition fund to build on its current JSS Commodity – Diversified (CHF) fund.

The new strategy, named the JSS Commodity Transition Enhanced fund, will invest across a diversified set of commodities, with a “strategic focus” on those linked to the green transition. It will be managed by George Cotton and Benoît Harger, who currently run the diversified commodity fund under J. Safra Sarasin Sustainable Asset Management.

Oliver Cartade, head of asset management, said: “Commodities are key inputs to the world economy and will play a vital role in the energy transition. Gaining exposure to commodity returns presents particular challenges to investors and Bank J. Safra Sarasin is proud to extend the commodity offering to its clients.”

J. Safra Sarasin said the fund would be complemented by a collateral fixed income portfolio.

“We are delighted to launch an additional commodity strategy in a UCITS format, further enhancing our existing commodities offering. Commodities can play a valuable role in contributing to diversification and improving the risk-return profile of multi-asset portfolios,” Cotton said.
