Kempen Capital Management, the Dutch asset management group, has appointed a senior responsible investment adviser from the Global Reporting Initiative.

Eszter Vitorino Fuleky joins the group from the GRI, where she has worked since 2010 in various positions. The Global Reporting Initiative is an independent organisation established to set out sustainability reporting guidelines for government agencies and commercial organisations.

Most recently, as head of capital markets engagement, Fuleky was responsible for liaison with capital markets stakeholders ranging from fund managers to asset owners.

Fuleky was also a member of the group which advised the European Commission on the sustainable investment taxonomy, to define what should, or should not, constitute a sustainable investment.

“As an engaged shareholder with a long-term focus, we feel that sustainability is undeniably an important factor in all of our investment processes,” said Lars Dijkstra, chief investment officer at Kempen.

“The experience that Eszter brings to the table in the area of corporate governance will add great value to the team,” he added.

Like many of its competitors, Kempen has been investing considerably in its sustainable investment operations in the past year. In its annual ESG report, published on Wednesday (15 May) the company said it had launched a new policy framework in 2018 to manage exclusions. It also introduced a new ESG scoring and monitoring framework for its investment funds.

The company managed some €59 billion in assets as at the end of December 2018, according to the report, with €15.4 billion managed in investment strategies and €43.6 billion in its solutions business.
