The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has announced a stewardship and corporate governance partnership with BMO Global Asset Management.

The asset manager has been named as its insight partner for stewardship and corporate governance, with the focus being on the key considerations facing pension scheme trustees in the “increasingly challenging” stewardship and governance environment.

Through the partnership, BMO Global Asset Management will give PMI members access to its insights on stewardship and corporate governance through several distribution channels, including its monthly magazine ‘Pensions Aspects’, email newsletters, events, PMI TV and its dedicated ‘insight partners’ web area.

Greg Skinner, head of UK institutional and consultant relations at BMO Global Asset Management, said: “With the continually changing environment around scheme governance and stewardship responsibilities, we’ve partnered with the PMI to help trustees understand the landscape and make better-informed decisions.

“Through the information being shared across multiple channels, we aim to ensure trustees have all the information they need to handle the challenges they face.”

Gareth Tancred, chief executive of PMI, added that good corporate governance and effective investor stewardship were essential to ensuring trustee boards achieve “optimal outcomes” for members.

The PMI develops insight partnerships with organisations it considers to be experts in the industry.

BMO Global Asset Management has been developing its wider ESG strategy over a 30 year period, according to its website, and already publishes details of its voting record (available here).
