An independent consultancy has launched based in Glasgow to assist advisers with engaging their clients on sustainable investment.

To coincide with the upcoming COP26 conference held in the city, Rebecca Kowalski (pictured) has launched Overstory Finance to encourage and support advisers with their conversations with clients around climate change, a low-carbon economy and investing for a greener future.

Kowalski has previously worked as a compliance manager and sustainable investment advocate at Cornerstone Asset Management, but decided to launch Overstory Finance to share her experience and expertise with a wider audience.

She said: “Busting the myth that ‘green’ investments are just for ‘eco-warriors’, Overstory Finance maintains that the transition to the low carbon economy is a matter of when, not if, and that all investors need to take this into account.”

Overstory Finance will be launching an interactive IFA and client-facing website later this year with tools, tips and educational materials.

“There are big changes and big challenges ahead, both within and without our industry,” Kowalski added. “We all share the same carbon budget and the same finite natural resources and we will need all of our powers of creativity, innovation, collaboration and persuasion to cross the bridge to an economic and social system in which both people and planet can thrive.”
