In this episode of the ESG Out Loud podcast ESG Clarity global deputy editor Natasha Turner speaks to Rathbones stewardship director and ESG Clarity Committee member Matt Crossman about why modern slavery is so pertinent now and what investors can do about it.

During times of crisis, modern slavery issues are heightened and yet “we constantly have to remind companies this is a critical issue,” Crossman says in the episode. In the UK, the Modern Slavery Act is not enforced by the government, despite this being welcomed by investors, he adds. However, there are relatively simple steps investors can take to start engaging businesses on this issue, which Crossman outlines in the podcast.

Later on in this episode we hear the second instalment from our chat with oceanographer and climate scientist Dr Emma Boland, this time explaining climate modelling and how she uses it in her research.
