EdenTree Investment Management has appointed Ed Christian as its new church and charity investment director, which the firm said would strengthen its capabilities as it expands its presence in the UK church and charity investment market.
Christian brings two decades of investment and client experience to the new role, which he will use to help organisations navigate their investment requirements and ensure the firm’s proposition reflects the needs and priorities of the sector.
He is the first of two senior appointments supporting EdenTree’s plans for the church and charity market, with Elizabeth Carter due to join as head of church and charity later in the year.
Christian joins EdenTree after eight years at CCLA Investment Management where he was responsible for supporting the firm’s Church of England client base alongside a wide range of charities and not-for-profit organisations. He previously spent 12 years at JM Finn, latterly as a senior investment manager.
As a charity-owned, sustainable asset manager, EdenTree said it is developing its capabilities to support organisations looking for investment partners with a strong understanding of purpose and long-term value creation.
“I am delighted to be joining EdenTree at such an important point in the development of its work with churches and charities. Organisations in these sectors have distinct investment needs, shaped not only by their financial objectives but by their values and long-term purpose,” Christian said.
“I have spent much of my career working closely with church and charity clients, and I am looking forward to listening to organisations across the sector and helping EdenTree build an investment proposition that responds to the challenges they face. EdenTree’s sustainable and ethical investment expertise and charity ownership provide a strong foundation from which to do that.”
